Our Learn to Swim Program teaches the fundamentals of learning to swim and water safety to children who are grouped according to age and ability, and who are in the water without their parents. Commencing on the learn to swim journey for the first time without mum or dad in the water can be incredibly exciting for some children and very daunting for others. Our qualified instructors are passionate about building trust, nurturing children to help them overcome their fears and challenging those kids who are yearning to get in there and go.
Safety skills form an integral part of our Learn to Swim Program. Each class runs for 30 minutes and features a maximum of three students per class with four in the more advanced Beginner 4’s and 5’s. This allows for more one on one time with our instructors and maximum swim time per lesson. Less waiting for a turn and more swimming equals progress you can measure and see. Learn to Swim classes start at $24.50 per lesson, per child, although we do charge by the term.
Our Beginner 1 level is a gentle introduction to the water for those children who have fears or who have never had swimming lessons before. We guide and encourage children through some fun activities to help them overcome their fears and become comfortable in the water. We also introduce them to some basic movement, breath control and safety skills.
May not have had lessons before
Emotionally ready to leave mum or dad and follow directions from an instructor
Fearful of the water and reluctant to put their eyes in
Small group classes with a maximum of 3 children
Our Beginner 2 level is for children who are familiar with the water and happy to put their eyes in but aren’t quite swimming yet. In this level they will learn how to hold their breath and blow bubbles properly, and they will also learn to trust the water through floatation and assisted movement activities. Safety also forms an integral part of this level, with children learning how to tread water and return to safe places independently.
May not have had lessons before but are confident around water
Are comfortable putting their eyes in and have a basic understanding of the water
Small group classes with a maximum of 3 children
Our Beginner 3 level helps to build children’s confidence and independence in the water through glide and basic movement activities. They also start to learn how to breathe while moving and they will continue to improve their safety skills.
May not have had lessons before but are confident around water
Can confidently propel themselves through the water over short distances
Small group classes with a maximum of 3 children
Our Beginner 4 level increases children independence and builds on their basic mobility and gliding skills, teaching them how to move through the water more efficiently with different movements of their arms and legs. They also continue to improve their breathing and safety skills.
Can propel themselves through the water over longer distances
Have basic mobility skills (kicking and paddling)
Small group classes with a maximum of 4 children
Our Beginner 5 level has been designed to help refine children’s movement patterns and give them a better understanding of how to control their bodies in the water. Children will work on improving their body positions, increasing the distance they can front and back kick, and basic big arms prior to moving up to the Stroke Development levels. Safety skills remain an integral part of this level.
Confident independent swimmers over longer distances
Have strong breath control and mobility skills
Small group classes with a maximum of 4 children
